C-103 niobium alloy plate

In the past two years, C-103 niobium alloy plates were developed by the following processes: vacuum arc smelting - extrusion forging - blank opening - annealing - cold rolling - annealing, rolling two batches of plates of different thickness, which were supplied to relevant engineering units for spinning, welding and coating materials, basically meeting the needs of the test. The properties of the plates produced by this process have basically reached the level of the same alloy abroad. However, there is still a need to improve the process, such as a long cycle, more procedures, not conducive to large-scale production. Such as the alloy in the high temperature heating for many times, easy to be contaminated by a variety of harmful gases. Moreover, with the development of China's aerospace industry, there will be more and more problems about using C-103 niobium alloy as component. In this case, still using the original process of production, can not adapt to the objective requirements of development.

In order to develop and produce C-103 niobium alloy plates quickly and efficiently to meet various needs, a new study was carried out on the production process of C-103 niobium alloy plates in 1977.The main contents of the study are :(1) extrusion billet process, (2) the improvement of cold rolling process. The results show that the extrusion process of C-103 niobium alloy rectangular material is successful, and the reformed cold rolling process is feasible, and the mechanical properties, tolerance size and shape of the alloy plates obtained meet the requirements. The improved process of C-103 niobium alloy plate reduces the intermediate annealing process of forging after extrusion and rolling after tempering, so that the working hours, consumption and cost are reduced and the product quality is improved. Therefore, it is conducive to mass production, and at the same time, the blank preparation solves the problem of producing more than one meter wide plate, so as to produce large size plate.
