Preparation of fluorosilane superhydrophobic coating on medical Ti-6Al-4V alloy and biological coating

The surface of medical Ti-6Al-4V alloy was constructed by micro-arc oxidation technique, and then the superhydrophobic surface was obtained by immersion in perfluorooctyl trichlorosilane ethanol solution.

With the increase of micro-arc oxidation voltage, the surface roughness of the coating increases, and the contact Angle after hydrophobic treatment first increases and then decreases, and the maximum value is reached at 440 V.

The micro-arc oxidation coating of the superhydrophobic sample is mainly composed of anatase TiO and a small amount of rutile TiO2 phase, and contains a large amount of -OH and some P compounds. The low surface energy fluorosilane was grafted onto the surface of micro-arc oxidation coating through hydrolysis and dehydration reaction to form a superhydrophobic layer.

The superhydrophobic sample has good cytocompatibility and certain antimicrobial activity against Escherichia coli, so it is a kind of potential biomedical material.
