Significance and method of titanium material processing

Saving energy and reducing consumption

From titanium and titanium alloy ingot to the parts of finished products, the rate of finished products is only 10%-20%, therefore, the recycling of residual titanium and its alloys has become the key to reduce costs and expand applications. The sources of waste titanium and residual titanium are very wide. The waste titanium produced by titanium ingot (cutting head, cutting edge and peeling) accounts for about 5%. About 40%~60% of the residual titanium (leftover materials and chips) generated by processing materials; The residual titanium (head, corner chip) produced by titanium processing into titanium products accounts for about 50%~75%; Used titanium products are also a source.

Because of the large amount of waste titanium, comprehensive utilization is promising. Therefore, some countries have established a special waste metal recycling company, specializing in the comprehensive utilization of waste titanium, using special equipment and technology, large-scale, high automation to engage in waste titanium recycling. In the recycling of waste titanium, especially to strengthen the management of waste titanium, do not let different degrees of oxidation of waste titanium mixed. In this way, it is convenient to treat different types of waste titanium according to the following four conditions:

(1) unpolluted residual titanium, including the leftover materials and titanium chips after processing, large quantity and good quality, should be as far as possible as the melting titanium ingot additive, mixed with sponge titanium extrusion into titanium block use, can reduce the cost of processing;

(2) Block waste titanium sponge, waste titanium head, titanium scraps, according to their purity and composition, can be respectively used as alloy additives in ferrotitanium industry, or as raw materials for titanium powder;

(3) Titanium powder and equiouter titanium powder, suitable for pyrotechnic industry decombustible agent, can also be used as additives in aluminum processing industry and powder metallurgy titanium products raw material;

(4) Mixed or impurity more titanium chips and waste titanium blocks can be processed into high ferrotitanium, such as 70 ferrotitanium (containing 70% titanium). With the increase of the demand for high titanium ferroalloy additives in the ferrotitanium industry, the high titanium ferroalloy with waste titanium as the main raw material is welcomed by the market. At present, the annual output of high titanium iron produced from waste titanium has reached more than 10,000 tons in the world.
