Preparation method of niobium hafnium alloy

Niobium hafnium alloy is usually prepared by electron beam melting and true blank arc melting combined with the hyperactive method of ingot billet, and then in 1200℃ above the temperature of extrusion or forging, in 500℃ below the temperature of rolling and drawing and other processing, can be made into plate, belt, rod, line and forging products.

Niobium hafnium alloy has good weldability, usually using tungsten electrode argon welding and electron beam welding method to achieve the connection of the parent metal, can also be used to complete the niobium hafnium alloy with titanium and titanium alloy welding.

The quality of the weld is related to the purity and vacuum of argon. Generally, the higher the purity of argon and the lower the residual atmospheric pressure, the better the quality of the weld.

Cr-ti-si and Cr-Fe-Si anti-oxidation coatings are usually used.

The oxidation life of niobium hafnium alloy coated with these two coatings is more than 150h in air at 1371℃.

Mainly used in liquid rocket engine radiation cooling nozzle extension section and thrust chamber body, space power generation system molten sodium and sodium potassium alloy pressure tube and turbo pump, high temperature structural components of jet engine, etc.
