Which is more corrosion resistant tantalum or hastelloy?

Tantalum tube is a high-density hard metal with high ductility, thermal conductivity and electrical conductivity. Tantalum is a refractory metal and is often used as a minor component of alloys. It has low chemical activity and is suitable to replace platinum as a material for experimental equipment. Tantalum is resistant to acid corrosion, and it is resistant to aqua regia below 150 °C.

At present, the main application of tantalum is tantalum capacitors, which are used in electronic equipment such as mobile phones, DVD players, electronic game consoles and computers. The application of tantalum is in electronic components made of tantalum powder, mainly capacitors and high-power resistors. Tantalum is used to make a variety of ductile alloys with high melting points. These alloys can be used as materials for superhard metal processing tools and to make high-temperature alloys for use in jet engines, chemical experimental equipment, nuclear reactors and missiles. Tantalum is resistant to biological fluids and is widely used to make surgical tools and implants. Tantalum is resistant to corrosion by almost all acids except hydrofluoric acid and hot sulfuric acid. Therefore, tantalum can be used as a material for chemical reaction vessels and corrosive liquid conduits. Tantalum has a high melting point and can resist oxidation, so it can be used as a material for vacuum furnace components. Tantalum is highly ductile and can be stretched into filaments. These tantalum wires are used to vaporize various metals, such as aluminum.

Hastelloy is a nickel-based corrosion-resistant alloy, mainly divided into two categories: nickel-chromium alloy and nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy. It has good corrosion resistance and thermal stability, and is mostly used in aviation, chemical fields, etc.

Hastelloy plates are suitable for various chemical industries containing oxidizing and reducing media. The higher molybdenum and chromium content makes the alloy resistant to chloride ion corrosion, and the tungsten element further improves the corrosion resistance. At the same time, C-276 Hastelloy tube is a tungsten-containing nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy. It is one of the few materials resistant to corrosion by moist chlorine, hypochlorite and chlorine dioxide solutions. It is resistant to high concentrations of chlorine. Salt solutions such as ferric chloride and copper chloride have significant corrosion resistance, extremely low silicon-carbon content, and are considered corrosion-resistant alloys.
