Niobium and its alloys

Niobium and niobium alloy alloys have high strength at high temperature, and have relatively small density compared with other high-temperature and high-strength metals such as tungsten and tantalum, and are easy to be processed and formed, so they are commonly used as key components of rocket engines.

The superconducting transition temperature of niobium is high, and such superconducting materials as niobium titanium, niobium tin, Niobium aluminum and germanium are not only used for power transmission, power generation, manufacturing of superconducting magnets and controlling nuclear fusion, but also used for navigation devices in space vehicles, electromagnetic propulsion equipment of high-speed submersible ships and superconducting high-speed trains.

Niobium has good corrosion resistance and can be used as heat exchanger, condenser, filter, agitator, etc. Niobium carbide can be used alone or in combination with tungsten carbide and molybdenum carbide as a hot forging die, cutting tool, jet engine turbine blade, valve, tail skirt and rocket nozzle coating.

Alloy steels containing niobium have high strength, good toughness and cold quenching resistance, and can be widely used in oil pipelines.

Main products and applications:

Niobium sheet: mainly used for superconducting barrier layer materials;

High temperature niobium alloy (niobium tungsten alloy, niobium hafnium alloy) : due to its good mechanical properties and high temperature performance stability, mainly used in the aerospace field (rocket nozzle structural materials, etc.);

Niobium strip: LED backlight source;

Niobium alloy tube: key component material for high - pressure sodium lamp for electric light source.
