Structural mechanics and biological properties of porous tantalum

The preparation process of porous tantalum is complex, and the main methods include: The pore diameter of porous tantalum prepared by the above methods is 300-600um. Compared with other metal materials with porous structure, it has a higher porosity (66.7-80%), which can accelerate the growth of tissue into the pore interior. The nutrient exchange in porous tantalum is improved, which makes it have higher potential of tissue endotropism growth. In addition, porous tantalum has the characteristics of low elastic modulus, high surface friction coefficient and excellent mechanical properties. Its elastic modulus is 1.22GPa, which is between cancellous bone (0.1-0.5 GPa) and dense bone (12-18 GPa). The "stress shielding" effect can be avoided when it is implanted into human bone tissue during medical treatment. It is conducive to the normal conduction of biological stress. High surface friction coefficient can increase the attached surface of osteoblasts, facilitate the close adhesion and growth of cells, and guide the differentiation and maturation of osteoblasts and play the role of osteogenic function.
